A New Trucking Concept

Middle East Trucking Networks (METN) is one of Swift Group’s recently established subsidiaries.

Aiming at fulfilling the new market dynamics and tackling its pain points in the trucking industry; METN is putting forward the concept of having a structured, and customer service oriented trucking services. The selective breed of drivers and latest information technologies are the valuable competitive edge the company offers to its client. In 2006, the company launched its operations with only six heavy trucks for containers moving and a small distribution fleet of three light trucks.

After two years of operations, METN’s fleet reaches 35 trailers 6x4 and 4x2 tractor heads, 14 long bed pick up 3 and 5 tons closed box delivery vehicles, 1 truck closed box refrigerated delivery vehicle, and 3 forklift handling equipments. Our clients appreciate the fact that we are small enough to provide personal attention, and yet large enough to meet their logistical requirements.

To address the continuing challenges and demands for freight services, METN continues to increase the capacity by adding more qualified vehicles mix between heavy and light trucks, to enhance the level of performance by applying the standard operations procedures (SOPs), to monitor the job lead time, and to use the patrol and maintenance service on roads.

In addition to this, METN takes a more oriented approach that distinguishes it from most of other companies by employing professionals, non-traditional drivers who are provided by vocational education programs especially in the safety driving to funnel new talents into the driving profession. The drivers are exposed to random drug check and liable to limited driving hours as well to ensure safe and intact cargo delivery.  METN is also employing sophisticated information technology that optimizes loads to fill every centimeter and kilogram of existing capacity and enables its clients to track and trace their shipments during the operations.

It is from METN’s solid conviction that by applying all these success factors, it creates competitive differentiators that maximize the value of its offerings to the market, maintain long-term relationships with clients, and effectively contribute in building the new trucking concept in Egypt.
